Registering and chipping

There are several options for registering ponies with the NWPCS.

Post registration
Import registration
Passport without mention of parentage

All ponies registered with pedigree must meet various rules in order to be registered in the foal book in sections A, B, C, D, NWR or WPBR.

SUBSEQUENT REGISTRATION

Ponies are normally registered in the year of birth by means of an original birth notification. It is possible that due to circumstances this may not have happened. The NWPCS offers the possibility to register a pony with parentage outside the year of birth. We refer to this as a subsequent registration.

However, this requires a DNA test, making the cost of registration considerably higher. Without this DNA-test it is not possible to register the pedigree. The pony must also be microchipped. A passport and registration certificate will be issued for the pony.

It is possible to register a pony through a post-registration if one or both parents are known. Unfortunately, it is not possible to trace the parents through DNA research. You can inquire at the studbook office in advance what the registration possibilities are for your pony using the information known from the pedigree.

IMPORT REGISTRATION

Your pony already has a passport and/or registration certificate in which the pedigree is registered. It is possible to also register your pony at the NWPCS provided it meets the registration requirements. You can ask the studbook office in advance if registration is possible for your pony. To register the pony, a copy of the pony's passport and/or registration certificate is required. We advise you to send this by registered mail. Also include the request for registration with the NWPCS. The NWPCS will provide a registration certificate in addition to the present documents.

PASSPORT APPLICATION WITHOUT LISTING PARENTAGE

In addition to registration with pedigree, the NWPCS also offers the opportunity to request a passport for a pony whose pedigree is not known. The pony will have to be microchipped. You can send the veterinarian's certificate of chipping to the NWPCS. A passport will be issued.

CHIPPEN

Chipping is a legal requirement through the ministry. Chipping takes place to register all ponies and then be able to recognize them again. You can have your pony chipped by employees of the Studbook. You can also have your pony chipped by your veterinarian. You must then have this processed in the documents of the pony through the studbook office.

For further information, please refer to the following website: www.nl-paardenpaspoort.nl

According to current legislation, all horses and ponies must be microchipped. In addition, a passport must also be present with each quadruped. If your pony is not yet chipped, you can have this done through your veterinarian. It is also possible for one of the consultants of the studbook to come and chip your pony. Both can and may be done. Then the chip must still be registered in the original papers of the pony. Only then is everything completed and you can show the complete data at any inspection.

CHIPPED BY CONSULTANT OF THE STUDBOOK:

The consultant will come and chip the pony after appointment. The original paper of the pony will be taken. This will be sent by the consultant with the chip information to the studbook office. If the pony already has a passport it will be stamped by the consultant. The passport will only be taken if changes need to be made to the pony's own data.

CHIPPED BY VETERINARIAN:

To register the chip data, the original documents must be sent. That is, the registration certificate and passport if present. In addition, the veterinarian's statement must be sent along. This is necessary to make sure that the chip number really belongs to your pony. The stickers received must also be sent as well.Upon receipt of this information, the chip number ( transponder number) will be registered and checked. A passport will be made if the pony does not already have one.If you also wish to have your pony registered by name, this must be mentioned. This is because it is not obligatory and therefore not done automatically.
