Frequently Asked Questions
General
I would like more information about my Welsh pony.
Studbook related questions can be obtained from the office. This can be done by sending an email to: [email protected]
Sports performance can be requested from the KNHS - [email protected]
The markings and color do not match on the paper and in the passport.
Through your veterinarian or through a NWPCS passport consultant you can have the change recorded. The veterinarian/passport consultant will then prepare (using a sketch form) a statement of the chip number and the changed sketch. You then send this form; the veterinarian or passport consultant to the NWPCS office along with the original passport and registration certificate.
My pony died what now?
If the pony has died, you must send all original papers (registration paper and passport) to the NWPCS with the reason for death.
If you would like to have the registration paper and passport back as a reminder, please let us know. After processing the death we will then return the registration paper and passport. If the pony was disposed of through a slaughterhouse then you will only have the registration paper to return. The passport will later come to the issuing authority through the slaughterhouse and the PVE for processing of the death.
I want to change the name of my pony. Is that possible?
Changing the name of a pony is in principle not possible. Only the breeder of a pony bred by her or him can have the name changed, provided this is done before the 3rd year of life and no offspring of the pony has yet been registered.
My passport no longer has room for vaccinations.
To do so, you can send the passport - if issued by the NWPCS - to:
NWPCS
Boterhoeksestraat 54
6666 GA Heteren
If the address it is sent back to is different from what is listed in the passport, do include that address otherwise it would not get back to the right place after replenishment.
I have lost my Welsh pony's registration certificate and/or passport
The registration certificate and pony passport are documents that legally belong to the pony. If one or both documents are lost, you can request new documents through a duplicate application. After receiving the completed form and all documents back, we will assess whether we can process your request. The form can be downloaded from the website and can be found in the menu under “studbook” and then “fees and forms”. It can also be requested by mail at [email protected].
Where can I read more about predicates Welsh ponies can achieve?
Welsh ponies can achieve various predicates that say something about their qualities. On the Predicates page you will find lots of information on this.
How can I adjust a pony's height at NWPCS?
The height must have been measured at an NWPCS event. If the registered height is no longer accurate, a re-measurement can be requested through [email protected]. This will take place during an event such as a regional inspection. Costs are 12.50 euros. If the height changes, it will also be adjusted in the database and on the registration certificate. Measurements from other activities will not be taken over.
What should I do if I sell my Welsh pony?
You can indicate the sale on the green registration certificate on the back, sign it and also report there to whom you sold the pony. Then that person can use the transfer form to put the pony in his/her name with us. When the old registration certificate is then sent to the studbook office, a new registration certificate and passport sticker will be issued and sent to that person.
Members can also report the pony as sold through our digital platform MijnWelsh or register a new pony directly in their name there.
Inspections
I would like to participate in a judging in another region, is that possible?
You can simply enter a judging in another region and thus choose your own judging location while signing up your pony through My Welsh.
Membership
Is it mandatory to have a Welsh pony to become a member?
No, there is no obligation to do so. Even if you don't have a pony, you can become a member of the NWPCS.
Am I automatically a member of the NWPCS when I purchase a Welsh pony?
No, if you want to become a member you must arrange this yourself, it is separate from the purchase of a NWPCS pony. You are of course very welcome!!!
How should I report changes to my membership? For example, a change of address?
You can send an email to [email protected] with the old and new address of your membership. You will always receive a confirmation of the change. A change of address cannot be communicated by phone, you can also communicate the change of address to us by mail.
Can I receive the Welsh magazine without becoming a member of the NWPCS?
No, that is not possible. The Welshmagazine is an association magazine, sent to members only. However, it is possible to request a sample copy once.
How do I become a member of the NWPCS?
More information about becoming a member of the NWPCS can be found on the membership page.
Does reporting a pony sold mean automatic termination of membership?
When a pony is deregistered from the NWPCS, it does not mean that membership is automatically terminated. The deregistration of a pony is separate from the owner's personal membership. Thus, members who deregister their pony remain registered as members and membership continues until it is cancelled separately and in writing, in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions. If you wish to terminate your membership, you must notify the NWPCS yourself explicitly and in writing before December 1 of the current year, otherwise your membership will be automatically renewed for another year. Without a written cancellation, the membership remains active, even if there are no ponies left in your name.
Registration
How can I register a pony in my name?
You can - if you are a member of the association arrange this via “my welsh” provided that the last known owner in our database has put the pony on “sold”. This form can be downloaded from the website and can be found in the menu under “organization” and then “fees and forms” (or click here). It can also be requested by mail at [email protected]
We bought a pony with a paper from another studbook.
Your pony already has a passport and/or registration certificate in which the pedigree is registered. It is possible to also register the pony at the NWPCS provided it meets the registration requirements. If necessary, you can ask the studbook office in advance whether registration is possible for your pony. To register the pony, a copy of the pony's passport and/or present registration certificate is required. You can arrange it according to the procedure indicated on the “registration form” This form can be downloaded from the website and can be found in the menu under “studbook” and then “fees and forms” . It can also be requested by mail at [email protected].
The NWPCS will provide a certificate of registration after registration in addition to the documents present.
Foal Registration
I forgot to register a foal in the year of birth.
Foals must be registered in the year of birth. If a pony is presented for registration at a later age, it is a late registration with additional costs. A DNA test is also mandatory to verify parentage. The DNA pattern or a hair sample of both parents must be available for DNA research. The form “registration request” can be downloaded from the website and can be found in the menu under “studbook” and then “fees and forms”. It can also be requested by mail at [email protected].
My mare gave birth to a dead foal.
If you are a member and the mating of your mare is digitally registered, you can report this digitally via “my welsh”. If you cannot report digitally, you must do so in writing. You can indicate this on the breeding ticket.
I received a note stud registration but now my mare has remained gust.
When your mare is pregnant, you must notify the stallion owner before October 1 of the year of mating by sending a pregnancy declaration from your veterinarian. Without a gust statement sent in on time, the stallion owner will enter the mating and the stud fee will be charged automatically.
If you do receive this invoice, but your mare is gust, please return the invoice within two weeks of the date including the gust declaration to the NWPCS (post, fax or email). The NWPCS can then credit the bill.
I have registered my foal should I contact the passport consultant myself?
The passport consultant will receive notification from the NWPCS after the foal is registered. He/she will contact you himself to schedule the route. If there is urgency in chipping/sketching your foal please contact the studbook. Do not under any circumstances wean the foal before it has been sketched by the passport consultant at the foot of the dam, otherwise DNA fees will be charged.
I covered with an unapproved (my own) stallion.
If you have a foal by an unapproved stallion, you can register the foal, but there will be no parentage information in the passport when it is issued. Unless you indicate with DNA testing that the parentage is correct. The foal - because the sire is an unapproved stallion, will be registered in the registry.
I have a stud certificate from another studbook but want to register my foal with the NWPCS.
Do you have a stud certificate/birth notification for your mare from another studbook? Then you can send this original document with the details of your foal to NWPCS, Boterhoeksestraat 54, 6666 GA, Heteren.
In foal registration I get an error message on the UBN even though we have it.
In the I and R app of RVO this can be checked per address. Often the UBN must still be extended to equidae. For example, a cattle farm has a UBN for cattle and not automatically for horses.
