Public Area
On November 23, the Members’ Council held its fall meeting. After the agenda was adopted, there was an opportunity for members to speak; during this time, Mr. R. Vrolijken (Coelenhage Stables) raised the issue of bloodline diversification within the NWR. This input was incorporated into the separate agenda item on this topic.
Reports were presented by the departments, and various points discussed at the meetings were shared. These included an idea to attract more stallions to the inspection by proposing a new selection method, and the low participation rates in inspections in relation to vaccination costs. There was a call for equal fees for user classes and mare classes, and input was provided regarding the inspection day and the choice between spring and fall.
During the meeting, the budget was approved subject to a number of adjustments, and the annual plan was presented, with an emphasis on behind-the-scenes digitization and improved communication with members.
There was also a discussion about the sports certification, with members feeling that it was too easy to obtain. Other topics discussed included the evaluation of the inspection day, the agenda for 2024, fee schedules, budgets, blood distribution, judges, rule changes, the duties of the executive board, and plans for the NWPCS’s 65th anniversary.
Closed section
During the closed session, we discussed our current partnership with Groenned and the contract negotiations for a new partnership. A new party, “Het Stamboekkantoor,” was also introduced; a vote was held on this matter, and a unanimous decision was made to enter into a new partnership with this new party.
The Trust Committee proposed a new member for the Executive Board; Denise Methorst was nominated and unanimously approved as the new board member for breed breeding, thereby converting her interim position into a permanent role on the Executive Board. In addition, two judges were nominated during the closed session, and we are pleased to welcome both Remco Zuidam and Jouke Dijkstra to our judging panel.
The meeting took place in a spirit of harmony, and we are all looking forward to the future with optimism.
