The full brothers Wildzang’s Salvador and Wildzang’s Silver Playboy, aged three and four respectively, earned the “ster” predicate at the inspection in Sevenum. Both are sired by Wildzang’s Lustre Madog and are out of the keur, preferente mare Wildzang’s Sorrel. “My mother’s favorite mare,” said breeder Dick Valk on Facebook. Thanks to her sons’ star ratings, Wildzang’s Sorrel is now elite. “Something we were hoping for. We are incredibly proud of Sorrel.”
Sorrel is the eighth elite mare bred by Wildzang’s. “Why do they call her ”my pony”?” asks Gerrie Valk. “Because Sorrel and I have a bond. She always comes up to me when I’m standing at the fence. Not because I spoil her with treats—we never do that—but just to have a little chat with me. I have the same connection with one of her daughters.”
The full interview is in Welsh Pony & Cob Magazine number 3-2021 which drops in subscribers' mailboxes this week. In this edition there is special attention for the Inspection in Putten and the inspections in Sevenum, Heteren and Tolbert.
