The ‘Herman Valk Exchange Trophy‘ will be awarded for the first time this year at the Central Mare Inspection (CMK) in Kootwijk. The challenge prize is made available by family Valk for the Best gelding at the CMK.

A special prize for the best national gelding was initially initiated in 2016 by daughter-in-law Marieke under the name ‘Wildzang's Royal Diamond cup,’ named after the studbook's first star gelding and additionally Best Three-Year-Old in Kootwijk in 2005. Meanwhile, the tally for Wildzang star geldings stands at four.

Also among the star stallions, the Wildzang stud of Welsh section B ponies with Wildzang's Serengeti had the first this year, by the way, but that aside.

Impressed

Moreover, during his judging trip to Australia, Herman Valk became very impressed with the impressive participation and quality in the classes for geldings.

NWPCS honorary member, breeder and judge Herman Valk died a year ago on June 5. With the introduction of the ‘Herman Valk Exchange Trophy’ becomes his desire to encourage participation of quality geldings at NWPCS inspections, strengthened.

For a chance to win this challenge cup, you must first enter a gelding for a regional judging. The first closing date is as early as June 10. Click here for more information about the inspections.

This year's Dutch Welsh Pony & Cob Magazine issue 2 highlights the Herman Valk Challenge Trophy and more special prizes.
