The second issue of Welsh Pony & Cob magazine for 2020 is out
Cover of Welsh Pony and Cob Magazine, Issue 2—April 2020
The second issue of Welsh Pony & Cob magazine is out. Among other things, it features an in-depth discussion of the new crop of studbook stallions and designated NWR stallions. It also includes interviews with passionate Welsh breeders.
Theo ten Brinke interviewed Marinus van Dam and Gerard van Mill. At the New Year’s reception, they were bid farewell as members of the Riding Technique Committee and judges. Just before the magazine went to press, we received the sad news of Marinus van Dam’s passing on April 2. His final words in the interview—expressing his intention to continue following the studbook with pleasure—sadly were not to come true. Read the obituary here
Goldwind Empire’s First Lady
The mare Goldwind Empire’s First Lady is a truly exceptional representative of the NWR Section. Her proud breeder and owner is Anton ter Bogt. He brought her to the inspection as a three-year-old. “There, I was advised to use the mare for competition, as she was said to be unsuitable for breeding. Well, the opposite turned out to be true. She is now an elite performance mare,” he says in the interview he gave to Jan S. Jukema.
Hypoallergenic Welsh Partbreds
There are many people who are allergic to horses but still want to ride. Tom and Masja Mooren of Stal Heavenlysmile breed hypoallergenic Welsh Partbreds. Anja Rozema asked them about the how and why, and you can read this interview in this issue of the magazine.
