DPC Lunteren (2nd sel): ‘Cream de Luxe in horse version, I want it!’
Cream de Luxe DV
For the second time this season, a DPC selection competition was held Aug. 16, 2023, in Lunteren.
Four-year-olds
In the four-year-olds, the NRPS registered but NWPCS approved stallion Cream de Luxe DV won followed by the studbook stallion Amalia's Marcus.
- 1 Romee Schoenmakers with the studbook stallion Cream de Luxe DV earned 88.5 points.
- 2 Marjolein Ebbers with the studbook stallion Amalia's Marcus scored 88 points.
Three ponies stood out head and shoulders in the four-year-old class. They all scored close to 90 points. In the lead came Romee Schoenmakers with the NRPS stallion Cream de Luxe DV (by Cassanova du Bois). The striking perlino had to concede slightly on the walk (7.5) but convinced on all other parts, including a 9.5 for his mega canter. Laurens: “What an eye-catcher, this Cream de Luxe DV! Truly a phenomenal pony, who has all the qualities of a good dressage horse in him: beautiful posture and lots of balance, and the ability to switch and also close. He showed the latter when he piaffed on the spot during the award ceremony. If he had been a few inches taller, I would have wanted him in my stable ...!” His total came to 88.5 points. “The score was somewhat depressed by the tension in walk, because he was a little distracted. Still, we also saw good stretches, so he can do it.”
Half a point less was the NWPCS stallion Amalia's Marcus (by Nijebert's Marc). Under Marjolein Ebbers, the dun-colored stallion registered 8.5s and 9s in all sections. “This is a very complete pony, with a lot of balance and power and good leg technique and ease of movement, especially in trot. He was a little more focused than his fellow stud, so he scored higher on the walk.”
Five-year-olds
The WPBR bred but NRPS registered stallion Monaco WNE wins in the five-year-olds.
- 1 Lizette Kamper with the stallion Monaco WNE scored 84 points.
- 2 Jonne Liefhebber with the mare Amalia's Sloofke scored 79.5 points.
- 3 Pip Fredrikze with the gelding G-Star scored 79.5 points.

84 points gave the palomino NRPS stallion Monaco WNE (by FS Mr. Right) the lead in the five-year-olds. Lizette Kamper sent him to 84 points, with an 8.5 for all gaits. “Also Monaco WNE is a very complete pony, a very nice appearance with a nice touch, a striking front technique and on all fronts a lot of quality. He could perhaps have shown just a little more carrying for his age,” Laurens commented. “For us he was the clear winner in this category.”
Just short of 80 points came Amalia's Sloofke (NWPCS, by Speyksbosch Dickens) with Jonne Liefhebber and G-Star (NWPCS, by Maarlen's Romeo) with Pip Fredrikze.
Six-year-olds
A second place in the six-year-olds for Marjolijn.
- 2 Lorain Paas with the mare Marjolijn scored 79.5 points.
Just short of 80 points was the NWPCS mare Marjolijn (by Movie Star) with Lorain Paas, who lost out to Super Sparkle in walk and canter, but scored slightly higher on trot and conformation (8.5).
18+
A second place for the only mare in this 18+ class for Amalia's Sloofke
- 2 Judy Leeuwis with the mare Amalia's Sloofke scored 81 points.
New this year is the pilot class 18+, in which young ponies will be ridden by riders with more experience. The organization of the Dutch Pony Championship just wants to show that our ponies also have the cooperative character and the attitude to ‘do it’ with a younger rider. The pilot is intended to see if there is still enthusiasm for it, after all, you also see (young) ponies with not too great adults competing among the horses.
The 5-year-old NWPCS mare Amalia's Sloofke was ridden by Judy Leeuwis to a neat 2 spot, they earned 81 points.
