Margriet Hoeve's Noan

The Welsh Section B colt Margriet Hoeve’s Noan (by Moelview Masterpiece) was born on March 28, 2023. A month later, the breeder, the Horinga family from Wetsinge, registered the chestnut colt, and he was assigned registration number 202300100.

Tracks No. 200 (“Oh Let’s Go”) and No. 300 (“Floris van Hofman”) from 2023 have already been registered, but here is the annual interview with the breeder of the 100th foal!

The Horinga family’s Welsh B breeding program is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. “On December 5, 2003, we—Stal Margriet Hoeve—became the owners of our first Welsh B mare.” This Cottrell Naomi (by Rotherwood State Occasion) is the great-grandmother of the 100th foal of 2023: Margriet Hoeve’s Noan.

Horinga continues: “This Cottrell Naomi was a real gem. She became a star and was declared ”preferent’ right away, based on her first four foals. Her third daughter, Margriet Hoeve’s Nanda (by Glansevin Graffiti) —Noan’s grandmother—was named best three-year-old in Kootwijk in 2008. Her first foal, Margriet Hoeve’s Nanouschka, Noan’s dam, was born a year later. The pairing of Nanda and the stallion Griashall Kiwi turned out to be a huge success.”

Nanouschka's Achievements

Eleventh foal

Margriet Hoeve’s Noan is Nanouschka’s eleventh foal. “In 2014 and 2015, she gave birth to filly foals by our stallion Rhoson Amlyn, the youngest of which, Margriet Hoeve’s Narissa, is still stabled with us. Both daughters are top mares in breeding.”

“She then had two daughters by our new stallion, Moelview Masterpiece: MH’s Nanouk and MH’s Nadira. MH’s Niels (by Cwrtycadno Glyndwr out of Nanouschka) and MH’s Nanette (by Moelview Masterpiece out of Nanda) belong to David Dekkers. Nadira and four more half-brothers were sold to Joost Aarts.”

Noan’s dam has since been bred to Renaissance Plantagenet, bred by Jean Luc Kumpen and owned by Stal Ysselvliedt. “The stallion really appeals to us because of his pedigree and conformation. We’re taking our time to see how Noan develops and hope to find a good place for him in breeding, either here or elsewhere.”
