The closing date for the Central Stallion Inspection 2023 (CHK) is fast approaching, as you can enter stallions until Friday, December 23, 2022 at the latest for the inspection that will take place in Ermelo on February 10 and 11, 2023.

The contest program and more info can be found here, but we also highlighted some ‘issues’ below:

Hard bottom

All newly to be judged stallions will be - prior to entering the main ring for the first viewing - on the straight line and on a hard surface are shown to a delegation of the judging panel and an external advisor. On this, the stallions will be set up on stand and shown in walk and trot. This assessment will indoor take place and can also be viewed via our livestream.

Guidance and dress code

Supervisors of stallions should dressed correctly in all-white attire to appear in the judging lane. A different color tie and a safety cap (model as common in equestrian sports) are allowed.

In the stallion's individual presentation, a second supervisor, also in all-white attire, allowed, but not when walking around the group.

Within the inspection lane is a whip with a maximum length of 75 cm or a small rattle box (a box that fits in the palm of the hand) allowed. Other tools are prohibited.

Toilet and fittings

In sections A, B, C and D, the braids of mane and/or tail is not allowed, a small braid behind the ears is allowed. In the sections NWR and WPBR the braids of mane and/or tail allowed.

Normal hardware is allowed for stallions in all sections. It is forbidden to use the tail of the ponies artificially, under penalty of exclusion from participation in the judging.

The removal of hairs on the inside of the auricle and the removal of tactile hairs is prohibited. The application of extra hair or hair extensions should be stated at the time of notification and if performed after notification, should in any case be known to the judges before the judging begins.
