Departments
Brief feedback was given from the three departments on the fall meetings. In the department South there was a meeting with limited attendance and there was some dissatisfaction about moving the judging in Sevenum to the day of the Zeeland horse. It was also indicated that it was difficult to find new board members and volunteers the vacancies in the department have been open for 3 years.
The middle division had a well-attended meeting with few major details. However, the call for additional volunteers was also made here. The organization of the various events will be jeopardized if not more members make themselves available. Furthermore, there was a good discussion about the new predicate system and the fee list was further explained.
In Noord there was a very good turnout and there was a fine and good atmosphere at the meeting. Again there was extensive discussion of the predicate system and also additional clarification of the fee list. The Member Council members of North complimented the Board for the good representation of the Board at the meeting.
Predicate system
The working group of the predicate system gave a brief explanation of the predicate system, the process was explained and the latest changes indicated at the departmental meetings were also briefly reviewed. The Council of Members then approved the new predicate system which will take effect on January 1, 2023.
An explanation of the presented budget and fee list was given by the Main Board, after a brief discussion and explanation both pieces were approved.
Welfare
The welfare of animals is a social topic, the main board has drawn up a Welfare Policy Plan for our studbook and during the framework day of the NWPCS this was discussed extensively with all officials. The policy plan was approved by the membership board after one more addition. This policy plan will be an ongoing document which should be supplemented each time.
There was a demand from the association in the past for a comprehensive annual report, to properly prepare the annual report an annual plan for 2023 was prepared. The membership council was pleased with this new plan and therefore approved it unanimously.
Bastiaan Meerburg
At the end of the public part we said goodbye to Bastiaan Meerburg as technical chairman of the membership board. Our chairman of the main board thanked him extensively for his commitment and all the time he has put into our studbook. Due to the departure of Bastiaan a while back a vacancy was created for a new technical chairman, unfortunately at this moment this vacancy is not yet filled. Therefore the board of members has appointed an ad interim chairman and secretary from its midst. Richard Dekkers will function as chairman and Jan Jukema as secretary. The membership council hopes to permanently fill both positions during the new spring meeting.
