Coelenhage's Purioso

The NWR Studbook stallion Coelenhage's Purioso (Coelenhage's Let's be the Best x IJsselvliedt's Primeur) has passed away. The bay was 27 years old and died of old age.

Coelenhage's Purioso was born in 1995 in the stables of Ronald Vrolijken in Wezep. He was appointed as a 3-year-old at the Central Stallion Show, as a 4-year-old he was finally approved. After several years of breeding in the Netherlands, Purioso was sold for sport to Denmark. Here he had a brilliant career: in 2004 he became Danish champion at FEI level and took part in the European Championship dressage with Sofie Jeppesen.

Back in the Netherlands

In 2013, breeder Ronald Vrolijken bought Purioso back for breeding. He also served as a learning pony for daughter Julia. Purioso competed at basic level for several more years, but due to an injury the Vrolijken family decided to give him his old age. The last few years he enjoyed his old age as a breeding stallion at Brouwer Stables, where the girls next door also enjoyed him as a child pony.

Approved sons

Purioso leaves behind a huge legacy. For example, he is the sire of approved stallions Bodo, Jarno, Wengelo's Ricardo, Beukenoord's Arena, Furioso van het Enkershof and the 2022 Brouwershaven Valentino designated for the performance test. Through them he is also the grandfather of Bowe, Brouwershaven Diamond Hit, Compagnon's Humphrey, Pippin's Pride AT, Leuns Veld's Winston, Rhodin Hedde and many others.
