NWPCS Says Goodbye to Aldert Kuiper as a Volunteer

February 11, 2022

At the 2022 Central Stallion Inspection, Aldert Kuiper was honored as he stepped down from his role as a volunteer. Kuiper, who is now 80 years old, has made a significant contribution to the Welsh Stud Book as a volunteer. Among other things, he served for many years as ringmaster at both the stallion and mare inspections.

But that’s not all. Kuiper was also a foal appraiser. When microchipping was first introduced and enthusiasts were asked to enroll in the passport consultant training program, Aldert Kuiper was perhaps the first to sign up. He was also a board member of the Northern Division.

And that’s not all … Kuiper and his colleagues have been very active in carriage driving for many years. They have promoted pony sports—particularly the Welsh pony—in a wonderful and often playful way at local and regional festivals, competitions, and inspections, whether or not under the banner of the NWPCS.

During the 25th anniversary celebration, host Ria Bremer is escorted in by an eight-horse team driven by Weremeus Buning. The second and third pairs make up Kuiper's four-horse team.
