Who doesn’t know Denise Methorst!? She can be found at almost every Welsh horse show or event and is always willing to help. Nothing is too much for her, and she’s always there for the association. Just now at the Central Stallion Show, Denise was honored by board member Louis Roeters as Volunteer of the Year.

Denise joined the Kruijswijk family in 2004, where, as a 14-year-old pony rider, she took riding lessons and also handled all the related tasks. That’s when she caught the Welsh pony bug. Before long, she was helping Alexandra van der Vis–Kruijswijk (who was working at the studbook office at the time) with various tasks at the inspections.

Foal Breeding

The Kruiswijk family gave her the opportunity to breed her own foal out of the Crown- and Preferent-class mare Thamens Felice. The mare was covered by the stallion Glyncoch Peter Pan in 2010, and even though he was in Belgium at the time, Denise was determined to make this pairing happen. In 2011, she became the proud breeder and owner of the colt Trajectum, nicknamed Feliciano.

Many roles and functions

Denise Methorst has held many roles and positions within the NWPCS, including board positions on the chapter board, membership council member, and (chief) editor, to name a few. She still devotes a great deal of time to volunteering on the PR committee, the youth committee, the editorial board, and at horse inspections, among other activities. At Gerrit and Leny van Beek’s place, she enjoys spending time with her favorite ponies.
