Gustina Karssen with Mik's Turbo Toy
There was fierce competition for the many prizes and beautiful rosettes at the National Welsh Sports Day in Putten on October 1 and 2, 2021. At the end of both days, the all-around champions were honored.
Men's Night

Friday was the driving competition night. Miriam van Oort and Beer took two first-place finishes in dressage with scores of 207 and 198.5 points in the L-class test. The pair also won the L-class agility competition by remaining faultless in both the basic course and the jump-off.
Marlous Postma, riding her pair of horses Thunder’s Renz and Tyfry Soloma, took first place in both the dressage and the agility events.
So things got exciting when it came time to determine the All-Around Champion. The placement points from the two dressage tests and one agility test are added together, and both Miriam and Marlou had three. The first dressage test was the deciding factor. In that test, Miriam van Oort earned the highest score with Beer and was crowned All-Around Champion.
The Freestyle to Music was won by Jolanda Schimmel-Gaasbeek riding Alt Faert’s Hotse with a score of over 71%
Champions in Jumping & Dressage

Vera van de Kooy placed third with Orchard Cover Girl (King William) and took first place in the L2/DE dressage; she also won first place in the BB/DE show jumping, making this All-Around Sports Day a huge success.
In the small class, Gustina Karssen won the M-level jumping competition with her C-class pony, Mik’s Turbo Toby, and her D-class pony, King. She rode both ponies clear of faults. In the B/ABC dressage class, the pair had already secured first and second place, which earned them the Small Class All-Around Championship.
