The 2021 Welsh Select Sale Show on Saturday, October 9, in Gorssel

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we were very sorry to say that the 2020 Welsh Select Sale & Youngstock Show could not take place. This spring, the foundation’s team of volunteers put their heads together to see if it might still be possible to organize something. The format is different from what you’re used to seeing from us—unfortunately, there won’t be an auction—but that shouldn’t dampen the fun. This year, there will still be an awesome Welsh show where Welsh ponies of all ages can compete in various classes.

Registration for this show is open to all Welsh ponies registered with a recognized Welsh studbook for the following categories: Welsh pony conformation judging in hand for foals and ponies of all ages, and performance classes for Welsh ponies aged 4 years and older. Foals may be weaned or accompanied by their mothers. This 2021 Welsh Select Sale Show is therefore also an excellent opportunity to show your late-born foals.

We already have a number of fantastic prizes: handmade floral sashes, English rosettes, ceremonial blankets, gift certificates, mugs, and more. We’d also like to take this opportunity to once again extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, because without them and our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to make this day a success.

Judges evaluate in pairs

This year, we have decided to have the conformation and performance classes judged by pairs of judges. They will judge all classes together. For the conformation classes, the pair consists of Herman de Jong (Stal Gerstloo) and Geert Verbaas (Stougjeshoeve Stud).
For the practical categories, those are Dick Hols & Marit Timmermans. Both pairs have been active in the Welsh horse world for years and have extensive experience in showing and competing in the ring.

New Location

This year, we’ve chosen a central location in the Netherlands where both the show ring and the warm-up area are indoors. There’s also a large parking lot next to the two riding halls. The show will be held at the LR & PC Semper Fidelis riding club, Amelterweg 6-A, 7213 BD GORSSEL

Registration is open until this coming Saturday, September 25. You can register via this link.
