After the Welsh Cup could not be held in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year—albeit in a modified format and subject to the RIVM’s COVID-19 guidelines—there is once again an opportunity to participate in the Welsh Cup.

The selection competitions are open to teams riding a registered Welsh pony. You do not need to be a member of the studbook. You can register via ‘MijnKNHS.’.
Preliminary selections
The preliminary qualifiers are organized in accordance with the official KNHS rules and therefore count toward qualifying points. Participants may compete in dressage classes B through Z2. For each qualifying competition, you must register for two dressage tests if you wish to be eligible for the finals.
The dressage tests for the month in question will be held. It is possible that a particular class and/or category may be held as a handicap competition in accordance with KNHS rules.
You must compete in one of the qualifying competitions listed above. Each pair is selected once for the finals; if you have already qualified for the finals, the next qualified pair will be selected (provided they meet the standard).
The registration fee, payment method, and prizes vary by competition. You can find this information in the competition programs.
Delegation
One out of every four combinations in each class advances to the finals. Those with the fewest placement points and the most points earned across both tests advance. In the event of a tie, the first test is the deciding factor.
Participants must have scored at least 60% on one of the two qualifying events; this also applies to those who will serve as alternates for a spot in the finals. After the qualifying competition, the results, the finalists, and the alternates for the finals will be announced on www.startlijsten.nl.
Final
The final will be held on October 2 at the Welsh Sports Day in Putten. In the final, all selected pairs will compete in a test (the first test of the month), which will be judged by two judges. For ponies, there is a small and a large Welsh Cup champion in each class (B, L, M, and Z). For adults, there is one winner; this division is contested in handicap classes (B through Z).
The awards ceremony takes place on ponies, with a well-deserved lap of honor.
