The digital Members’ Council meeting took place on May 14. For the first time in a long while, the Members’ Council was once again in full attendance, including the recently appointed members Alfred Askes, Monica Groothuis (Northern Division), Erik van Lente, Jan van Drie, Thijs Reef (Central Division), and Pim van Welie (Southern Division).
Following two comments from Mr. Epema and Ms. Rozema, feedback was provided from the various departmental meetings. During those meetings, the report from the Conciliation Committee—as drafted by Messrs. J.W. Sloof and M. Duijts and sent by the Members’ Council—as well as the written response to it from 23 concerned members were also discussed at length.
The 2020 financial statements were approved. The process regarding the bylaws and regulations was also outlined: members have until June 1 to submit comments and suggestions to the members’ council members. Drafts of these documents can be requested from the studbook office. After that date, the members of the Members’ Council will forward them to the Executive Board. A notice will be posted on the website (click here) and Facebook to let members know about this opportunity.
During the closed session, Geert Verbaas was appointed as a member of the FTC Breeding Committee, and the Executive Board’s proposal to appoint Ben Platzer as jury chair was approved.
In addition, the Members’ Council reflected on the entire process surrounding the Reconciliation Committee and discussed several written responses. The authors of these responses will receive a reply to their letters, and with that, as far as the Members’ Council is concerned, the entire matter will be considered closed. Now it is important to look to the future and ensure that a sense of camaraderie once again takes precedence in our association.
