Anton ter Bogt and had to say goodbye this week to his pride, the NWR mare Goldwind Empire's First Lady. First Lady, foundation dam at the Achterhoek stable Goldwind Empire, lived to be 27 years old.
First Lady was born April 21, 1993. A chestnut mare by Leuns veld's Elegant out of the crown preferred sport mare Jenny (Tethworth Crimson Lake x El Khafif ox). She produced no less than eighteen offspring. The combination with Verona's Bo-Gi produced, among others, the studbook stallion GE Design, the designated stallion GE Power and the crown mare GE Choice. Orchard Boginov is the sire of the 2nd viewing stallion GE Power of Nature. Of the stallions Orchard Red Prince, Orchard Wildeman and Bijsterhof's Diamond Dancer, First Lady produced a star mare each.
Sports
What Ter Bogt is perhaps even prouder of is the sport results of First Lady's offspring. For example, GE Bride (by Orchard Red Prince), after a career in the Subtop dressage and M jumping, was awarded, sold to China. Orchard Boginov offspring GE Style and GE Power of Nature are running Z2 dressage and FEI dressage in Poland, respectively. Studbook stallion GE Design is creating a furor as a hunter pony in America.
Many offspring of First lady found their way for sport and/or breeding abroad. Besides America, China and Poland, these include Sweden and Luxembourg.
Not only in dressage and jumping is First Lady's offspring doing well. Just last weekend, grandson Goldwind Empire's Secret (by Nia Domo's Bolero out of GE Bride), under the sport name Mr. Reddington, won the international driving competition in Exloo with Annegreet Zaayer.
This year's Welsh Pony & Cob Magazine issue 2 features an extensive interview with Anton ter Bogt about First Lady and Goldwind Empire breeding.
