Dear Welsh enthusiasts,

As everyone knows, 2020 has turned out differently than we had initially hoped. The Netherlands and the rest of the world have been hit hard by the COVID-19 virus. This, of course, also has far-reaching consequences for all our Welsh events, such as shows, sports days, and regional and national inspections. Now we have the choice to give up and consider the summer season a loss, but that’s just not who we are!

There is now a glimmer of hope on the horizon, and we are seeing opportunities to start things up again. Unfortunately, this cannot happen in the way we are used to. As the studbook, we have been working hard over the past few weeks, in collaboration with the departments, to develop an alternative plan for the inspections. In this letter, we would like to inform all our members about this. Below, we will explain how the ‘2020 Inspections‘get down to work.".

As a starting point for the protocol, we have based our approach on the plan approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality (LNV) and developed by the Koepel Fokkerij (which is available on the NWPCS website), as well as the additional protocols and regulations issued by the RIVM. We sought a way to minimize the risk to public health while still offering breeders the opportunity to participate in breeding competitions and earn breeding titles for their ponies.

There will be 3 nationwide inspection dates

(subject to approval by the safety regions and sufficient participation)

  • August 1, South Division – Sevenum
  • August 8, Northern Division – Tolbert
  • August 15 Central Division – Putten

You can register via ‘My Welsh’ and will open on June 1, 2020; the closing date for all three inspection days is July 1, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.

In the unlikely event that the inspection days cannot take place, your registration fee will be automatically refunded.

If you have any questions or if anything is unclear, please contact the ‘inspection team,’ consisting of HB members Louis Roeters and Rhodé van Praat, delegate from the South Yvon Jansen, representative of the Central Division Jan van Drie, and representatives of the North Division Gert Wensvoort and Richard Dekkers. Or send your question by email to bestuur@NWPCS.nl
