Brightwells Auctioneers has announced that it is discontinuing its ‘Equine’ division effective immediately. This means that it will also stop holding auctions for Welsh ponies and cobs.

The announcement on the Brightwells website states that market forces are the reason Brightwells Auctioneers will no longer auction horses. This includes the auctions organized by the Welsh Pony & Cob Society (WPCS), such as the Fayre Oaks Sale, the Spring Sale, and the Autumn Cob Sale. At these auctions, Welsh breeders and enthusiasts have been able to view and purchase high-quality Welsh ponies and cobs for more than 66 years.

Brightwells’ Equine division was also an integral part of the auction of items during the WPCS AGM dinner to raise funds for charity. This event will still take place in a few weeks.

Thank you

Through the WPCS, the NWPCS would also like to thank, on behalf of its members, the current Brightwells team and the staff from previous years for their professionalism, dedication, and vision in promoting our wonderful breed.

Colin Thomas – Chairman of the WPCS: “Brightwells has consistently provided high-quality service and the perfect platform to promote and sell our ponies and cobs to the world. Over the years, a great many breeders have built their stud farms based on purchases made at this auction, and we are very grateful for its support. The closure of Brightwells” horse division is very sad for our breed.”

Loyal customers

In its announcement, Brightwells expresses its gratitude to all of its loyal customers who have supported these events. Brightwells emphasizes that all other aspects of its operations will remain the same and continue as usual.
