Welsh ponies in national frames for European Youth Men's Championship

The European Junior Men's Championship takes place at the end of August in Lamotte Beuvron, France. On Saturday, Feb. 15, there was a selection day at Chardon Stables and afterwards the cadre was announced. Several cadets are driving with a Welsh team.

Both A-cadres in the Children ( ages 12-14) are driving a single-carriage Welsh.

Joris Lauwers has the 10-year-old bay, NWPCS-registered, Welsh Partbred gelding Casanova TG (Cindy's Chevy TG x Anjershof Rocky) for the wagon and Jacco de Koning ment with the black, WPCV-registered, Welsh section A mare Kattenest Maud (Lacy Ebony x Rietstulps Victor).

Two-horse Welsh ponies

In the juniors (14-18 years old), A-cadres Jelle Leliveld and Sam Couwenberg both drove a pair of Welsh ponies.

Jelle Leliveld has the section A foxes Feansterhoeve Marrit (Abbertshome Hello-Boy x Moorcock Bracken), Kompas Yris (Vechtzicht's Hywel x Sumrin Thor) and Duco's Sabine (by Boreas Duco).

Studbook stallions

Sam Couwenberg mentors the section B studbook stallion Bekveld's Ronaldo and the now castrated studbook stallion Maron's Valentino. In addition, she also has Waxwing Penny Guy at her disposal, with whom she regularly mentors in single-carriage.

B-frame member Larissa Jansma ment with the former section C studbook stallion Honey Bee's Jolivier (Thorndonpark Prince (D) x Nachtegaal's Captain (A)). Jolivier was bred by Joop and Diana Epema who, in addition, also bred the dam of the aforementioned Feansterhoeve Marrit (namely the crown mare Honey Bee's Jolien).

Fifth at world pony racing championships

Among the young riders, Brent Jansen is part of the A-frame with a Welsh. Brent finished fifth with this section B pony Regina's Hielke (Casperhof's Freddy x Home'T’ Ranch Brutus) at the past World Ponymen's Championships.

In that same A-frame is Cindy Benschop who qualified with Beemsterhoebe's Thiamo Deluxe, or Thiamo (Hagelkruis Valentijn x Aester El Nino). This now 11-year-old Welsh Partbred gelding was bred by Saskia Schoo.

B-cadre member Michelle Kuyvenhoven mentors the bay section A ponies Four Winds Avens Mountain (Rian's Thunder x Friars Osbek) and Four Winds Adenostyles (Beukenhof's Barry x Springbourne Glide). These ponies gained experience in Kees Zwaan's four-horse team.
