On Saturday, February 8, 2020, Hub Kuijpers from Oirlo was honored as Breeder of the Year at the Central Stallion Inspection in Ermelo. The passionate breeder of NWRs and Welsh Partbreds had been nominated several times before and was finally recognized.

Hub has been a passionate Welsh pony breeder for 50 years and lives on Castenrayseweg (hence the stable name “Castenrayseweg’s”) in Oirlo. Hub bred with a maximum of three mares per year, which has earned him a truly impressive list of achievements. (read more)

Stallion Inspection

In 2017, the NWR stallion Castenrayseweg’s Charmeur was registered as a studbook stallion, and last year the Welsh Partbred stallion Castenrayseweg’s Dominator WNE followed suit. The latter was also present at Saturday’s stallion inspection. The elegant stallion was definitively registered in the studbook with a first premium and was also presented under saddle by Jéssica Leenders.

Hub Kuijpers enjoyed another successful year as a breeder at the stallion inspection. For example, the three-year-old Welsh Partbred palomino Castenrayseweg’s Mr. Sensation WNE (FS MR. Right x Bokkesprong Casjmier), owned by W.C.M. Egelmeers, was entered into the studbook. The bay NWR D-pony Castenrayseweg’s Gentleman (Houdringe’s Raspoetin x Leuns Veld’s Lord), owned by H.J.C. Ebbers, earned the “ster” predicate.
