Elite stallion Vechtzicht's Hywel passed away

The elite Welsh section A stallion Vechtzicht's Hywel has died at the age of 25. This was reported by family Zoet of Ysselvliedt Stud on Facebook yesterday, Jan. 12, 2020.

Vechtzicht's Hywel grew into an influential Welsh Mountain stallion who made his mark all over the world. “His championship at the Royal Welsh still gives us goosebumps to this day,” says Harold Zoet on Facebook.

‘A black day at the Ysselvliedt & Sarum Stud’

Hywel, who became Male Champion and Reserve Section A Champion at the 2005 Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, died at the Franklin family's Sarum Stud in Great Britain. “Our special thanks go to Annie and Steward Franklin who took such good care of Hywel up to and including the last minutes of his life. We are also grateful to family Dobber for the privilege of having him with us as a foal. And we thank Colin Tibbey for putting Hywel in the international spotlight very professionally,” Zoet said.

Vechtzicht's Hywel

Grey stallion Vechtzicht's Hywel saw the light of day on May 23, 1995 at his breeder family Dobber in Breukelen. His parents are Springbourne Claret (by Penual Mark) and Vechtzicht's Hylight (Vechtzicht's Lightfeet x Springbourne Caregan). As a foal he came into the hands of family Zoet.

All over the world Hywel left his mark and certainly at the NWPCS. The son of Springbourne Claret was approved as a studbook stallion and earned several championships at the Central Stallion Show. He became section champion several times and also overall day champion in 2003 and 2007.

Daughters

Hywel also left countless quality offspring. Well-known daughters registered with the NWPCS include the elite mare Oldenzijlster Anthia, the crown, preferent sport mare Winalsa-Hiems's Henriétte, the crown, preferent De Evertshoeve's Angali, the crown mare Lowland Dawn, the keur mares Nebus Kaylin, Vollenhof's Gwynneth, Clayland's Pleasure, Singelwoud's Estelle, Kielshoop Butterfly of Rose, Kielshoop Marilene, Reitdiepster Heidi, Vughterheide's Dream of Samé, Eindegooi's Farrah and Ysselvliedt's Nurlaila and a host of stemerries.

Sons

Hywel's sons approved for the studbook are Marrenk's Monty, Marrenk's Wesley, Ysselvliedt's Shy Rebel, Ysselvliedt's Silver Line, Winalda Hiem's Henschel, Meedenblik Fabris, Oldenzijlster Action Man, Vechtzicht's Classic Popstar and Ysselvliedt's Irresistible. In addition, many of his sons reached the second viewing and offspring of him are used as foundation stallions and/or as breeding stallions at other studbooks. Vechtzicht's Classic Design earned the ster predicate last year.
