In the early morning of Saturday, September 14, Theo van den Berg passed away. In the last six months he fought against his illness and despite his strong fighting spirit he unfortunately had to give in.
The first contact with the Welsh A pony dates back to 1984, in that year came the first mare Riton Lottie and thus was born stable Wilsline.
Starting in the Randstad, via Wijk bij Duurstede and Echteld, Theo and Engelien lived in beautiful Dodewaard since 1996, where they ran a small stud station with one stallion, a number of broodmares and some young rearing.
Theo was steadfast in his views on the Welsh breed. His condition that, among other things, the pony had to have a beautiful head with a large speaking eye always gave rise to fascinating discussions during our Wales trips. Regularly we witnessed Theo's unconditional love for Engelien and the passion for Welsh ponies they had together. In this they were a close team.
Theo and Engelien were often present at the judging, many know what a personality he was with his own opinion, his own way of doing things.
He really enjoyed all the people with the same passion for the Welsh and didn't stop talking about this great hobby.
His heart was in stallion testing, it was a dream to get a stallion approved once.
Harrie made Theo the beautiful promise to prepare and present their stallion in February 2020. That will be one of the many times we have Theo in our thoughts.

On Friday, September 20, we remembered Theo, in the farewell service it was clearly emphasized that Theo was a sociable person and liked having people around him. He treated everyone with respect, honesty and loyalty were of paramount importance to him.
Theo, how we will miss your humor, sociability and determination.
We wish Engelien and her family much strength in coping with this great loss.
