On Friday, August 30, the Council of Members met for a brainstorming session on the future structure of our association.

Currently, the association is divided into three departments (North, Central and South) with the South department in particular being under administrative pressure. Because Kitty Jonker was the only department board member there, the request for additional board support came to the board this summer. Piet Peters and Cor de Jong are doing this as interim board members until the end of this year. This move was explicitly approved by the Council of Members on this evening because of the special situation within the Division.

Three scenarios

Before the brainstorming session, the board had provided a memorandum with three scenarios:

  1. Abolish the current South division and create a new division for the country with 2 divisions (North and South) included;
  2. a completely new governance model without departmental boards and Council of Members, but with an ALV and more hiring of paid staff for board support, and
  3. strengthen the current situation in the South Division and look for new board members in consultation with South members.

The Council of Members concluded that the latter scenario is the most desirable for the time being. It is now up to the members of the South Division to discuss this issue at their divisional meeting and weigh in on it.

The other departments will also have this issue on the agenda.
