Astrid de Vocht full of praise for use sections in Hellendoorn

July 20, 2019

The regional mare show in Hellendoorn on July 13 was the second of Division Midden. As earlier this season in Putten, there was a large participation in the use sections. It seems that the new format does appeal to people. Astrid de Vocht tells us that she enjoyed judging: “I have seen very nice combinations where the pleasure radiated from both man and animal!”

The Cobs

Leading the way was Daniëlle Carrière with her Welsh Cob Dearnevalley Chardonay (by Danaway Flash Jack) in the Best Riding Pony category. “A very nice combination to see, really a picture,” she said.”

Chardonay was a little looky at first, but then showed very fine gaits. The presentation looked very natural and relaxed, where it was clear that both were enjoying it. Chardonay was bred by C.J. Schofield from Mexborough and is owned by HSHorses from Winterswijk Woold.

Helma de Jong competed Blaengwen Jewel (by Fronarth Welsh Magic) under saddle in the section D class, rider over 18 years old. Helma had it all very well, Jewel was a bit tense in the canter at first, but later the relaxation came and during the lap of honor they went around in a beautiful way. Jewel is bred by N.S. Jones from Llanon and owned by H. de Jong from Eefde.

Both combinations will, of course, go to the CK.

Leading rein

Three beautiful combinations in the lane, who showed a little difference in riding level, but all received a well-deserved invitation to the CK. “In judging not only the pretty picture counts, but especially the balance and the way of riding are decisive”, Astrid explains the results.

1st place was for Charlotte Meerburg with Ysselvliedt's Be A Miracle (by Knodishall Geraint). Not only a beautiful picture to see but also in terms of riding excellent. Charlotte had a good rhythm when riding light and steered the pony around very independently. Miracle is bred by H.R. & Y.B. Zoet from Wezep and owned by B.G. Meerburg from Heteren.

Next was Juline Scheltinga with Sarum Cherry Blossom (by Voermanhof Nicolas). Also just as nice a combination as the previous one, only in the riding a little less far, Juline stayed for example in the light ride still a little behind in the movement and Blossom was occasionally a little naughty. Breeder is S.F. Franklin from Cullompton and the owners are G. and L. van Beek from Wijk bij Duurstede.

Third place went to four-year-old Romi-Lynn Vos with Ysselvliedt's Malawi, the least experienced rider of the three who still had a little trouble finding balance while trotting. But together with her super well behaved pony she gave a neat presentation. Malawi is bred by H.R. & Y.B. Zoet from Wezep and owned by N. Vos from Halle.

First ridden

In this class unfortunately only 1 competitor in the lane but a very good one, Maud Leeuwis with Cwmmeudwy Igam Ogam (by Roseisle Pandytudyr). Maud rode her pony well, free and happy, and nicely reined through the course. The fun radiated from it! Igam Ogam was bred by R.J.H. Lewis from Llandysul and is owned by G. and L. van Beek from Wijk bij Duurstede.

Young proposers 4 to 7 years old

A 1st place for Maud Leeuwis with Sarum Cherry Blossom, who presented her pony nicely. She paid good attention to the pony and also had a good eye on what was going on around them. For example, Maud kept a very good distance from the other pony.

And so a 2nd place for Charlotte Meerburg with Ysselvliedt's Be A Miracle, who let the pony walk on a line that was too long and sometimes did not step through. However, both put in a good performance and so may go to the CK.

Young Proposers 8 to 11 years old

Also here two participants of which Sem van Lente with Paltshoeve's Daisy (v. Breeton Dai elite) may go to the CK. Sem gave a neat presentation that was very nice to see, and his pony ran like a train. Daisy is bred by R.J.G. Koster from Didam and owned by J.E. van Lente from IJsselmuiden.

Fleur den Bruinen clearly still had a little trouble leading Ysselvliedt's Be A Miracle, she will continue training first and hopefully we will see her next year in Kootwijk.

Young proposers 12 to 16 years old

A CK ticket for Wout Brinkman presented Asters Daisy (by Linde Hoeve's Elegant) very professionally, and clearly showed that he knows what it's all about. Wout did get the tip that help from a booster is not really necessary in this class. Breeder/owner of Daisy is H. Hammers from Warnsveld.
