The KNHS-Divoza Championship is held annually for young dressage ponies. The first qualifying competition for NWPCS ponies will take place on June 29 at the regional inspection in Putten.

Four-year-olds (born in 2015), five-year-old (born in 2014), and six-year-old (born in 2013) ponies that belong to category C or D. The qualifying competitions are organized by studbooks, but all ponies that meet the eligibility requirements are, of course, welcome to participate in any qualifying competition.

Review

During the qualifying rounds, the ponies are judged on their walk, trot, and canter, as well as their carriage, suppleness, overall impression, and conformation. At any given time, a maximum of three horse-and-rider pairs per age category enter the arena to perform a series of maneuvers at the jury’s request. The top fifteen pairs in each age category are selected to compete in the championship final.

Final

On Saturday, August 17, the final of the KNHS-Divoza Championship for Young Dressage Ponies will take place in Kootwijk, at the Gert van den Hoorn Equestrian Center. This event coincides with the Welsh Stud Book’s Central Mare Inspection.

Collaboration and Purpose

The KNHS-Divoza Championship is a collaboration between the KNHS, the Dutch Welsh Pony and Cob Studbook (NWPCS), the Dutch New Forest Pony Studbook (NF), and the Dutch Riding Horse and Pony Studbook (NRPS). The goal is to assess a pony’s aptitude for dressage at a young age and to promote the breeding of sport ponies.
