Council of Members approves appointment of three new FTC members
The Members' Council approved the appointment of three new members to the Breeding Committee during the closed session of the Members' Council meeting
Within the organizational structure of our studbook, the Executive Board makes use of various committees, including the Breeding Committee.
Decision 2018
In 2018, it was decided to appoint two board members to the Executive Board: one for breed breeding programs A, B, C, and D, and one for the NWR and WPBR.
To manage the organization more effectively and focus the appropriate attention on the various breeding programs within our studbook, the Breeding Committee has also been divided into Breeding Programs A, B, C, and D, as well as the NWR and WPBR, each led by a chairperson.
Advisory role
The Breeding Committees serve in an advisory capacity to the Executive Board on matters such as breeding policy and the composition of the judging panel, and report on the status of the implementation of the breeding policy.
In addition, under the supervision and direction of the Executive Board, the Breeding Committee advises the judging panel—which has been assembled for the CHK—on the stallions entered for the first inspection.
The recommendations regarding the pedigrees of the stallions presented, the degree of inbreeding, and their relationship to the population are valuable due to the committee members’ in-depth knowledge and experience. During this process, the jury reviews the information presented and asks additional questions. If an FTC member has a conflict of interest regarding one of the stallions being considered, he or she will not participate in the deliberations and will recuse himself or herself.
Gerrit van Beek is stepping down
Due to the term limits, Gerrit van Beek is stepping down from the committee (after a one-year extension). We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Gerrit for his many years of selfless dedication, enthusiasm, valuable input, and passion within the FTC.
