Nina Spoor with The Good Ree's Iris in Youth Incentive Plan

Nina Spoor (18) and her NWR mare De Goede Ree's Iris have been selected, as in 2016, for the 2019 Youth Incentive Plan. This is a training program for young riders and amazons.

De Goede Ree's Iris (by Woldhoeve's Bart) is a 10-year-old chestnut mare. Her dam is Birds Eye View Irene (Jonker's Metyo x Vita Nova's Hannassie). Nina got the E-pony just before Christmas in 2012, Iris was three at the time. “I trained her mostly myself. Last year we became reserve champions in the Friesland Competition M2 dressage.”

Following instructions

During a selection day, which youth can sign up for, the riders and amazons are taught by instructors who also teach JSP classes. They look at how the rider rides and how they follow instructions.

“You are divided into groups and then given a half-hour lesson by an instructor of your choice,” says Nina. “It is important that you follow the tips and tricks during the lesson and apply them visibly. I was just doing my thing and every now and then the instructor would tell me what I could do better and how to work on that.”

“A few days later I got email that I was selected! I don't know exactly if I expected that. The selection riding didn't go badly; I tried to get everything out of it.”

This year Z-qualified

“This coming months I will have lessons once every two weeks from Gotien Sipsma. Through these lessons I hope to get ready for class Z. My goal is to become Z qualified this year, because after this year I have to start with the horses. I am curious to see how far we will make it.”

About the JSP

The Youth Incentive Plan offers pony riders and amazons from 10 to 18 years old a program in the form of extra lessons from top instructors in order to reach a higher level. For horses, participants must be at least 14 years old and up to 21 years old. They must be eligible to start in the classes B to ZZ jumping, or B to ZZL dressage.
