Region: many Friesian champion titles for Welsh ponies

At last month's regional championships in Friesland, Welsh ponies scored well. Especially in dressage, Welsh ponies were in the lead in several classes. Breeders Charles and Marlies van Oort (Maurik's) saw a breeding product become champion in Friesland, just like in Groningen.

Nina Woerts won Fries champion Z2 dressage category DE with 66.564% with Madam's Menno (by Kielshoop Honeyhill). Jinke de vries won the reserve title Z1 category DE with Bumba Babalu (by Desperado), who is registered with the NWPCS under the name Sonjahof Babalu). The combination scored 64.853%.

In the class M2 category DE, Amarens Postmus became champion with Shanna (by Bjirmen's Wytse with 65.583%. Reserve champion was Elin Brander with Coelenhage Parco (by Leuns Veld's Lord) with 65.5%.

Maurik's Giorgio Armani

The championship title in the M1 class category DE was for Sytske de Jong with Maurik's Giorgio Armani (by Orchard Red Prince) with 70.250%. In Groningen, from the same breeders Charles and Marlies van Oort (Comb. Vernooij / Van Oort), full brother Maurik's Roberto Cavalli also became champion.

Mother of both ponies is Maurik's Uptown Girl (by Leuns Veld's Elegant) who was Z1 dressage up to M2 dressage by Liese van Oort and well within a year. She earned the last profit points in high dressage under Kristy Bos.

Sytske de Jong and Maurik's Giorgio Armani have been a combination for a year now and have won quite a few prizes. In May they won the Hypo Fryslan Cup and at the Friesian outdoor championships they came third in the L2 and twelfth at the Hippiade. So last month the duo became M1 champions. “How much he taught Sytske,” says her mother Hendrika de Jong. “A golden pony. And now just hope Sytske doesn't grow too fast anymore and they can continue together for a few more years. Z2 is the goal and and now that dreams with this pony seem to come true, then also start international one day.”

More champions

Lonneke Folkertsma became champion in the M1/M2 class category AB. With Rosa (by Steehorst Pride) she achieved 62.417%. Iris Genee and Mister Sock's (by Ruska Gwyndaf) won the champion title in the L2 class category C with 68.167%.

In Class B category DE, the top honor was for Lieke Bergsma with Bolderman's Florence (by Bowe) with 71.583%.

Also in jumping there were Friesian titles for Welsh ponies. For example, Ylse Molenaar with Fallingasate Nourejev (by Morgenland's Fabian) became reserve champion L category DE. There was also the reserve title in jumping for L2 dressage champions Iris Genee and Mister Sock's in B category C.
