Hemke Horinga

On Monday, September 10, our dear (Welsh) friend Hemke Horinga was buried under great interest. Many will have known Hemke as 1 of the 3 brothers who bred Welsh B ponies under the name Margriethoeve. With their beautiful mares they achieved many national successes, especially Margriethoeve's Nanda, national best 3 year old; Margriethoeve's Nanouschka, national reserve champion and Margriethoeve's Nadine, the grey foal that many still remember. With due pride he enjoyed the ponies but also the people around them. Many contacts he made, and always with a friendly but above all cheerful note! In this summer he became ill, and on August 3, after an operation it was established that Hemke was incurably ill. And the prognosis was that he would live a few more months. That came to an abrupt end in early September. On Monday, September 3, Hemke had already passed away. So quickly! Incomprehensible! We, but especially his brothers Piet and Harm, are going to miss him terribly.
