General appearance: tough and courageous, pony-like.
Color: any color except plate fur.
Head: Small, dry, well set on and tapering to the nose.
Eyes: big and bold.
Ears: Well placed, small and pointed, well high on head, aspect ratio close together.
Nostrils: protruding and open.
Jaws and throat passage: Dry and finely carved, with plenty of space at the jaw cutout.
Neck: Long, well-behaved and fairly slender in mare, but with tendency for a heavy mane crest in mature stallions.
Shoulders: Long and sloping backwards.
Withers: reasonably fine, but not too sharp. The upper arm should be steep so that the foreleg is not too far under the body.
Front legs: Square set and correct, free in the elbows. A long and strong forearm, well developed front knee, short flat pipes below the forearm. Legs should be proportionally sloping and long, feet well shaped and round, hooves hard.
Back and loins: Muscular, strong and well-connected.
Chest: deep.
Ribs: well vaulted.
Croupe: long and fine. Not angular or short.
Tail: Well set on and cheerfully carried.
Hind legs: the hock joints should be large, flat and dry with clearly defined heels. They should not point inward or outward. The hind leg should not be too bent. The hock should not be behind a line running from the ischial tubercle to the fetlock. The legs should be proportionally sloping and long. The feet
should be well formed, the hooves hard.
Motion: Active, free and straight from the shoulders, reaching forward. Lots of flexion in the hocks, brought straight and powerful under the body.
