Registration for the IBOP is now open! This year, the NWPCS is organizing two IBOP events:
Saturday, September 19 – Hengelo
Saturday, December 5 – Lunteren
Is your pony currently in training for the inspection? Then now is the perfect time to start looking ahead. After the inspection, you can seamlessly continue training toward the IBOP. For mares that earn the KEUR predicate, successfully completing the IBOP can be the next step toward the KROON predicate.
From KEUR to KROON
When a mare is promoted to KEUR during an inspection, she can be promoted to KROON by achieving the required IBOP performance.
If your pony is already in training, now is the perfect time to keep going. The foundation has been laid; the pony is in good condition and accustomed to the work. By continuing the training after the inspection, you can work toward the IBOP in a focused manner.
Haven't been to the inspection yet? You can still participate!
The IBOP is certainly not intended solely for ponies that have already earned a predicate.
Mares that have not previously been presented at an inspection, including mares listed in the foal registry who are 4 years of age or older, are also eligible to participate. They cannot be promoted to KROON at that time, but the IBOP result they achieve will remain registered with the pony.
If the mare is presented at an inspection at a later date and ultimately earns the KEUR predicate, her previously earned IBOP result may count toward her promotion to KROON. Therefore, you do not need to take the IBOP test again.
Geldings and stallions are also very welcome. For them, the IBOP is a great opportunity to gain more insight into their natural aptitude and qualities as sport ponies.
Start preparing early
Taking an IBOP test in an unfamiliar environment can be quite challenging for a pony. That’s why you should start preparing well in advance. Let the pony get used to different environments and, if possible, to being ridden in an indoor arena.
Is your pony going to compete in a riding test that includes jumping? If so, make sure you’ve ridden through a practice course several times beforehand, preferably at a different location as well.
In short: Is your pony already in training for the inspection? Then keep at it and continue working toward the IBOP after the inspection!
