newborn foal
After about 11 months of waiting, that long-awaited foal has finally been born. Maybe this is your first Welsh foal, or maybe the first one you want to give a stable name to. That's why we're listing how that works again.
What are the advantages of using a stable name:
For breeders and users, it is immediately clear and easy to look up where a pony comes from.
As soon as your pony is sold and passes by at competitions, for example, you also know right away that it is your breeding product which may be there with the 1ste prize.
Once your stable name is registered with the NWPCS, this name is automatically entered when you register a foal.
And perhaps the best benefit, how cool does it look in my welsh if all your breeding products start with the same name.
What should you look for when applying for a stable name?
The use of a stable name is strictly personal, so you may only use it if you have written permission to do so.
Also make sure any heir is clear for the use of the stable name
When requesting a stable name, we check it in the Central Prefix Register, you can also do that yourself through this link.
A check will be made when requesting a stable name to ensure that it is not already in use at the NWPCS or in England at the WPCS (parent studbook). Also, the requested stable name should not be too similar to an already existing stable name.
A stable name is registered indefinitely. The registration expires only if the holder of the stable name gives written notice.
The stable name will also be registered with the Central Prefix Register in England.
The use of punctuation or spaces is not permitted.
The application will also be reviewed by the Central Prefix Registry. They will make the final decision on whether the submitted stable name can be included.
Use of stable names
When registering foals, it is also very important to always enter the stable name in the same way. Should it not be done consistently then finding it in “My Welsh” is a lot harder.
For example, you apply for a stable name on the name Vriesdijks and it is approved.
Therefore, 1 of these stable names is not to be used: Vriesdijk, Vries dijk, Vriesdijk's or Vries Dijk's
Indeed, should you do, it is difficult to find in “My Welsh”
If there are any questions about the above procedure or if you would like help filling out the form, please contact the studbook office.
