Dutch Welsh Pony & Cob Studbook (NWPCS) is officially recognized as a Authorized Body (GI)

April 8, 2026

The NWPCS (Dutch Welsh Pony & Cob Studbook) is proud to be officially recognized as an authorized body. This was announced today to the board of the studbook by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN). The recognition comes after a thorough evaluation of all NWPCS business processes by the Ministry of LVVN, RVO (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland) and the NVWA (Nederlandse Voedsel- en Waren Autoriteit).

An authorized body for horse passports is an organization designated by the government to issue horse passports and record equine identification data. Thus, NWPCS can do this in the future as well.

President of the NWPCS, Richard Dekkers: “We are immensely proud of this result of the hard work to further professionalize the studbook and improve services over the past years. This has helped to ensure that now our studbook has obtained this recognition as an authorized body.”
