Jan Jukema named Volunteer of the Year

February 7, 2026

During the Central Stallion Show Jan Jukema was put in the limelight as Volunteer of the Year. A rightful appreciation for his years of structural commitment to the Dutch Welsh Pony and Cob Studbook.

Volunteers are the heart of the NWPCS. Especially in a year in which extra flexibility was required due to relocations of events, it became clear again how important their efforts are. With the title Volunteer of the Year this year, one person was particularly highlighted: Jan Jukema.

Jan held an impressive number of positions over the years. He was chairman of Division East and later Division Central, participated in various working groups including the predicate system, was secretary of the membership council for many years and is active to this day as a writer for the Welsh Magazine.

In addition, Jan has been active as a breeder for more than 30 years under the stable name Bjirmen, with successes in multiple sections, both nationally and internationally. His involvement is characterized by reliability, substantive knowledge and a clear focus on structure and progress.

Jan does not seek visibility, but is always there when needed. His commitment is of lasting value to the Studbook and therefore deserves this special recognition.

We congratulate Jan on his achieved title of Volunteer of the Year!
