After an exciting battle, Jonkers’ Olivia may proudly call herself “Finest Old Welsh of 2025”! With over 500 votes, we can speak of another very successful edition.

Actually it is almost impossible to choose which old Welsh is really the nicest they all have their own charm. Yet you managed to pick a winner. Also this year the vote of NWPCS members counted extra thanks to the bonus points, which made the result even more special.

As the winner of the pageant, Jonkers’ Olivia will receive a beautiful halter and rope provided by the Welsh Studbook. The PR committee will be in touch about this.

But of course, all participating Welshies are winners. That's why we like to put them in the spotlight one more time and proudly highlight the top 3!

Jonkers’ Olivia (winner)

Section: NWR
Date of birth: 03-04-2005 (20 years old)
Gender: Mare
V. Veenstra's Promise
M. Vossehoeve's Bianca
Breeder: M. Elzinga
Owner: Monique Jonker

Description:

A true once-in-a-lifetime pony: my 20-year-old Kroon Sport mare Jonkers’ Olivia. In her youth she excelled in the inspection track and in the dressage ring, later we enjoyed practice crosses and endurance competitions to the fullest. She is also a wonderful mother to her foals. But above all she is so incredibly sweet and reliable. After 19 years together I still fall in love with her a little more every day.

Two years ago we experienced a highlight when three of her sons became Region Champions and all three ran at the Hippiade. And last October we were splashing in the water, side by side with her 10th foal, Owynn. A golden pony on all fronts and more than worthy to carry this title 😉

Huusakkers Sue-Anne (2nd place)

Section: A
Date of birth: 4-5-2001 (24 years old)
Gender: Mare
V. High Flowns Japhet
M. Huusakkers Peggy-Sue
MV. Synod Prophet
Breeder: Fam. Weijenberg
Owner: Sara Ederveen

Description:

Our sweet Sue is the most reliable and all-around useful pony that children have learned to pony ride on at our small riding school for many years. Sue always had a lot of fun and made lessons enjoyable for all children. Last summer Sue became very ill. After a lot of medication and patience she recovered quite a bit, but unfortunately this probably caused her to retire early and (too) abruptly. Nevertheless, we enjoy her presence every day and hope to have her as a cuddly pony in the barn for a long time to come. We will never find such a sweet versatile pony as Sue again and we greatly appreciate her years of dedication!

Nijewold's Karlo (3rd place)

Section: A
Date of birth: 3-3-1998 (27 years old)
Gender: Geldings
V. Cuppers Magnum
M. Rosanje
MV. Ysselvliedt's Yoskin
Breeder: Bakker, Aduard
Owner: Roelf Lamein
Submitter: Trijntje Lamein

Description:

Karlo is our ‘grandfather’ of stables with his 27 years. He came to us as a foal and has been part of our family for 27 years. With him the driving started for us. He trained the other ponies and competed in all sections, both in double and four-horse. The last few years he went in the four-horse team only for dressage. Together with his spider buddies, he managed to win many prizes and championship titles. Now he is enjoying his well-earned retirement and has the best seat in the barn.
This title would be a great addition for him!
