Radiant ponies, proud owners and a growing number of participation
Last Saturday, June 28, Stoeterij Turfhorst was again completely dominated by the enchanting world of the Welsh pony during the 4th edition of The Mega Welsh Event. What began as an intimate and cozy event with only a Welsh Show has now grown into an annual highlight, which each year grows in both atmosphere and quality. Thanks to the efforts of the organization, participants and volunteers, we can look back on an exceptionally successful day.
Under the watchful eye of judges Vicky Andrew and Lowri Reed, many beautiful ponies were judged in various sections and categories. The quality was high, and the atmosphere among participants and visitors was pleasant, sporty and enthusiastic.
Big winners of the day
The highest honor this year went to the three-year-old Section A mare Shamrock Nightflower bred by Henri Leeuwenhaag, who was not only declared Supreme Champion, but also took the title of Overall Youngstock Champion. A true eye-catcher in the ring! The Reserve Supreme Champion was the elegant Section B mare Rondo's April bred by the Flier family, who received much praise from the audience.
Among the foals, the Best Foal title went to the colt Tromps Sugar Ray, bred by Jeroen Tromp. The Reserve Best Foal went to the section C foal Altingshof Wild Hylight bred by Ilse vd Plaat.
There was much to admire in the geldings as well. Happy van de Ponderosahoeve was declared Best Male, with the section B gelding Alladin as worthy reserve.
Sporting achievements and champions in action
Performance in the sport class was also to be commended: Tirffal Captain Tom, ridden by Renée Tijmensen, captured the title in the Performance Championship. The approved stallion Cadlanvalley Voyager, presented in harness by Mascha Reijs, earned the Reserve Performance title.
In the Mini Championship the leading rein combination Uiterwaardens Elaine, presented by José Bosman with Emmelie Hartog in the saddle, showed her best side and went home with the title. Ysselvliedt Hello Goldstar, presented by Elaine Zoet, cleverly became reserve Mini Champion.
The Young Handlers featured many youthful competitors. Heathpark Philomena, presented by Hendrik de Jongh, was awarded the title Best Young Handler. Again it was Ysselvliedt Hello Goldstar, again presented by Elaine Zoet, who was placed as reserve.
Collaboration and outlook
This year's Mega Welsh Event was once again a collaboration with the Dutch Pony Championship and this year new the Suffolk Sheep Tribe - a combination that made for a varied program and a friendly, agricultural atmosphere.
A special thanks goes to the Koele family, who once again opened their accommodation for this special event. Their hospitality contributes each year to the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
With the sun high in the sky, proud owners in the ring and happy spectators along the side, we cannot but conclude: the 4th edition of The Mega Welsh Event was a great success. The preparations for the anniversary edition next year - the 5th - can begin. We are already looking forward to it!
