In a few weeks the first judging will be upon us. If you plan to participate in the inspection with your pony, please make sure that the pony has had valid influenza vaccinations. Below is a brief summary of the guidelines:

1. When the pony is born before January 1, 2022, the basic influenza vaccination shall consist of two vaccinations. The first active vaccination, the inoculation, is given to the pony when he is about 24 weeks old. This vaccination is repeated a minimum of 21 and a maximum of 92 days later by a so-called booster vaccination. These two vaccinations together form the basic vaccination. In the period between these two vaccinations, the pony may not participate in an event.

2. For ponies born in the year 2022 or later, the basic vaccination must consist of three vaccinations: the second vaccination must have been administered a minimum of 21 and a maximum of 92 days after the first, followed by a third vaccination that must have been administered a minimum of 120 days and a maximum of 7 months after the second vaccination. During the period between the second and third vaccinations, the pony may participate in the inspection, subject to paragraph 3d of these regulations.

3. For all basic vaccinations to be given from April 1, 2024, it must consist of three vaccinations. The second vaccination must be given a minimum of 21 and a maximum of 60 days after the first basic vaccination. The third vaccination a minimum of 120 days and a maximum of 6 months and 21 days after the second vaccination. During the period between the second and third vaccinations, the pony may participate in the inspection, subject to paragraph 3d of these regulations.

4. Then the follow-up vaccination should be given annually (example: if a pony was vaccinated on March 1, 2020, the follow-up vaccination should take place no later than March 1, 2021). This may be done on the same day as the previous year.

5. A vaccination must be administered at least seven days before the (first) day of the event.
Please note that if you are having only the foal inspected, the mother of the foal must have had the valid influenza vaccinations.
