First Lady

This pony was our first bred foal and has given us 19 offspring that have done very well, especially in the sport. The last foal she brought when she was 25 years old. She was our first lady and that's why we wanted to name her Lady.

It was Jan Lanters, then a member and a very valued volunteer, who said to me, “This Lady is the first, so call her First Lady,” and so it happened.

First Lady lived to be 28 years old, unfortunately she is no longer here and is greatly missed.

Her first foal was Choice, who became star, then keur and finally crown and was one of three sold to America. The other two were the stallion Design and the stallion Power. Power has provided many and very good offspring in America.

Further offspring have left for China, Poland and Luxenburg, among others. A grandson is also competing at the national level in Canada.

All in all, she was a very successful broodmare.

Preferent

PKs Ceridwen Mabel

528019020002912, STB section A, born April 30, 2005, preferent
V. Glyncoch Peter Pan
M. Vechtzicht's Cascade
MV. Crossways Rodney

Breeder/applicant: J. de Kever-Pankow, Ossenisse

The preferentship obtained on the basis of the following offspring:

- Oostdijk's Ceridwen Madoc (2009, by Shore Brooks High Five) 1st premiere filly

- Oostdijk's Ceridwen Mellow (2010, by Shore Brooks High Five) 1st premium as a four-year-old

- Oostdijk's Ceridwen Memory (2011, Twisthoeve's G. Rhydaman) keur preferent

PK's Ceridwen Mabel, preferent, was born at Oostdijk Stables on April 30, 2005. At age 6, Gwendolyn saw the stallion Glyncoch Peter Pan (Tervake Stables) at a show and desperately wanted a foal from that. All her savings and birthday money were set aside for that. Thanks in part to the more than accommodating attitude of Marc and Saskia van Haverbeke, she was able to take her pony Vechtzicht's Cascade to this stallion the very next year.
From birth Mabel was ‘saddleable’, a lovelier pony is hard to find. As a foal and as a young pony, she regularly earned 1st prizes and Youth Championships, but from the moment she was pregnant for the first time, she was unbeatable in the show ring. As a result, she unfortunately never became star, but she was entered in the studbook with a 1st premium. At the age of 3, she was broken in by Gwendolyn and taken on forest rides, pony camp and competitions.
Partly thanks to Mabel, we have built a hobby breeding in which a good character, movement, a good body with a beautiful color are paramount, without losing the much desired Welsh type. Despite the fact that she is no longer in our possession but now wears out her days as a much-loved children's pony, we thought it important to give her the honor she deserves, the preferent status is in our opinion more than deserved!
