LUNTEREN - Simultaneous with the NRPS national judging, the last DPC selection took place in Lunteren on Wednesday, Aug. 14, with Bart Bax and Marian Dorresteijn as judges. It was two four-year-old ponies who won their classes, both with 85 points: Didgeridoo NE WE (by Kastanienhof Donnertrommler) at those four-year-olds and Paradiso Emelwerth (by Cosmo Callidus NRW) took the 18+ class.

With Sophie van Norel in the saddle, Didgeridoo also won prizes at two other selections, but in Lunteren there was the win. He scored a mere 8.5, showing a super consistent performance. “Didgeridoo is a pony without weaknesses,” says Marian Dorresteijn. “He is a very complete pony, already nicely closed and carried through the track. He is very rideable and has a good hind leg.

With half a point less, Bo Leijten took second place with A New Story (by Jonkers’ Jayden). “A New Story is a pony with a lot of technique, but he had some tension today,” said Bart Bax. “Yes,” Marian adds, “That was kind of a neck-and-neck race. If he can let that tension drain a little more, there's stretch to the top.”

It was Top Model, an NRPS daughter by Top Champion, who ran to third place under Maddy Dijkshoorn. The combination received 81.5 points, including a nine for the walk. “Top Model has a lot of tact and print, and a very good walk. In addition, the mare has a lot of suppleness,” Marian said. Bart adds: “This is a very strongly built pony. For an even higher score, she could walk a little more with the withers up.”

Clear winner
Like Didgeridoo, the also four-year-old Paradiso Emelwerth received 85 points. “That was really the clear winner in the adult class,” Marian begins. “It really is a very complete pony.” Bart agrees: “It's a powerful pony, with a good hind leg and a very nice touch. He was presented pleasantly.” Under David Derksen, Paradiso received a nine for his canter, among other things.
Second place in this class went to six-year-old Amalia's Sloofke with Judy Leeuwis. They received 76.5 points. “A very likeable pony, well rideable. She gave a very pleasant image with a fine touch. The canter stood out positively.”

Third was Isala's White Gold. Fabienne Balk presented the son of Leuns Veld's Winston Jr. and scored 71 points. “Isala's White Gold is a beautiful pony that walks with a lot of front,” says Bart. Marian adds: “The trot was shown with space, tact and carrying. To offer more competition to the others in this group, we would have liked to have seen a little more back use in walk and canter.”

Double win

Sophie van Norel already won the four-year-old class, but she also won the five-year-olds. With Heitholms Nur Für Mich (by Nanho Black S) she was the strongest combination with 81 points. “That's a pony with a lot of technique,” Marian said immediately. “He has a very expressive front leg. He could be a little stronger in the connections, though. Bart also agrees, “In trot he could be a little nicer from back to front, then it will be even better.”
Vycho Lurvink rode D&R Sportpony's Night Prince (by Nightfever II) to second place (78 points), just like last time. “He was still slightly distracted,” says Bart, “but he remains very obedient and rideable in that. Overall, he can still come to carry a bit more.”

Maddy Dijkshoorn also took third place in this class, this time with Di Championata AT (by Dimension AT), and only half a point less than Night Prince. “Di Championata walks with a lot of space and tact through the track, but could still come to carry a bit more,” Marian explains. Again, Bart adds: “She may walk with the withers up a bit more in the future. Maddy presented her very sympathetically.”

Lots of front

The winner of the six-year-old class was Marco (by Movie Star) who received 83 points with Kyra Hingstman. “That's a pony with a lot of front. He walks with a lot of power and leg technique. Especially in canter he is already very nicely carried,” said Bart. “In the trot he could still be a little more over the back. That did get better through the test.” For his canter he received a nine. The beautiful blanket, sponsored by Paardenkliniek Wolvega, was put on Marco for the lap of honor.

Just a Champ (by Jonkers’ Jayden) finished second (82 points) with Jinthe Nipius. “A very complete pony,” Marian said. “He has a very functional conformation and also possesses charisma. He stood out for his fine bridle.” Bart points nop to his good counter. “The pony was already technically very fine in the exercises.”

Wapiti SK finished third with Sterre Kraaijeveld. The daughter of Der Feine Lord AT received 79.5 points. “This pony walks very nicely closed and carried. In doing so, she was presented very correctly,” Marian concluded.

On August 24 the dressage final will take place in Lathum and this will again be a great spectacle! Visitors are welcome to enjoy the beautiful pony sport and of course encourage the riders. There are great prizes, sashes and ribbons waiting for the winners and the ambiance will be great again. Hope to see you then!
