Tomorrow is the last regional judging of the 2024 season. Tolbert closes this year with the largest judging, as many as 164 ponies will enter the ring.
We get a lot of questions from our members about participation, is it declining now, what is this due to and how do we get more breeders to the shows....
For us a good time to look back over the past years. What were the total number of entries, are there sections that particularly stand out or are we doing very well.
In the overviews below, we would like to take you through the numbers.

As can be seen in the above overview the participation remains stable the last 3 years, when we look at the numbers per inspection we see especially in 2024 a shift to the last inspection of the season. The always already high participation in Tolbert in the section NWR and WPBR plus the presence of the users make this judging the largest.

In the section A we see no peculiarities or trends, the participation at the inspections is stable. Striking is the high participation of the section A at the RK in Heeswijk Dinther.

In Section B we also see that participation is stable, a small dip in 2023. The highest participation for years has been in Heteren.

In the section C and D we see a strong decrease, over 50% less than last year and this while on strong wish of the C & D breeders we have added the sections of these sections at all judging.

In the NWR, we see a decrease in terms of participation in 2024, however, we see these numbers pluses in the WPBR Of the 70 participating NWRs, 37 appear in Tolbert at the last inspection.

The WPBR section we see growth in participation this year, in the back office it can be seen that many NWR mares are being used for WPBR breeding.

User sections are on the rise again, participation is growing. Partly due to fields days and the attention given to them, we see that participation in our events is popular.
The first tentative conclusion: the numbers are not yet back to the level of before Corona, when there were 643 participants including 76 users and we had one Regional judging extra. So right now the numbers are running steady, and with the trends we see around us we can be proud of this! So are we not going to do anything more to get additional participation? Certainly we are! After the CK we will evaluate the season together with the departments and different committees and see what we can do for next year to stimulate extra participation.
After the Central Inspection, we will try to also publish an overview of the Central Inspection results for the past three years.
