Last Wednesday, March 20, Danielle Arts and Marjolein Meerburg gave an update on their research regarding NWR blood distribution to the FTC and part of the main board.
We were impressed by the hard work done entirely voluntarily by both ladies. The research done is of great value for the future of our breeding! During this evening the CONCEPT presented from the studies. We received the first insights of the course of the inbreeding percentage from 1980 until today, which as expected is in an upward trend but now much sharper and more realistic. The results of this will be presented to the Wageningen University & Research (WUR) to take a closer look. The CONCEPT presented results of the kinship research, these results are already somewhat more certain and also gave surprising insights among those present. We see the enormous value of these kinship percentages and have already been able to make concrete plans about this. For example, we intend to make the kinship percentages per pony transparent in MYWELSH and on the stallion list. We will also place an article on the website about what it now means for breeding and what advice we can attach to this. We will do everything we can to be ready so that as soon as the research results are final we can publish this immediately. At the three department meetings there will be a presentation about the research. For now, we want to thank Danielle and Marjolein for all the work that has already been done!
