Van Laarhoven Family Awarded NWPCS Breeders of the Year

February 10, 2024

ERMELO The Dutch Welsh Pony & Cob Studbook (NWPCS) is pleased to announce the van Laarhoven Family from Aarle-Rixtel as the ‘NWPCS Breeders of the Year. This recognition is a tribute to their dedication, passion and excellence in breeding Welsh riding ponies, which contributes to the flourishing of the NWPCS and its community.

The homage began with a hearty welcome where the van Laarhoven Family was invited to enter the ring. A beautiful moment followed when their beautiful ponies, Amalia's Joep, Amalia's Marcus and Amalia's Pieter, ridden by Nina Donker, Marjolein Ebbers and Sophie Sassen respectively, entered the ring. With heartfelt thanks to Mr. Ebbers.

All ponies have one thing in common: they come from the breeding of Stal Amalia of Family van Laarhoven. The breeding started in 2000 with the purchase of mare Hagelkruis Ramira and has carried the name Stal Amalia since 2001. With a focus on Welsh riding ponies with breed appeal and excellent movement, the van Laarhoven Family has built a solid reputation in the breeding community.

Lonneke and Pieter van Laarhoven are the driving force behind the breeding and have a unique collaboration with Henk Ebbers, who prepares the stallions for the stallion inspections. In recent years, Stal Amalia has regularly produced designated stallions from different mares lines, and their breeding products can also often be found at the top of the results in the sports world.

The title ‘NWPCS Breeders of the Year’ recognizes the years of successful breeding by the van Laarhoven Family. Their contribution to the NWPCS and Welsh breeding is greatly appreciated by the association.

The NWPCS thanks the riders and Henk Ebbers for their cooperation during the event.
