Piet Peters quits as president NWPCS

May 21, 2023

Dear Members of the NWPCS,

Last November I made it known within the Main Board, that I wanted to retire from the presidency in 2023. The reason for this is largely personal and has to do with the health problems my wife faced last year.

For almost 7 years I have had the pleasure of being president of our association.

The presidency was not always easy and as the saying goes “tall trees catch a lot of wind, you have to be prepared for this, be able to take it in and keep going. As a gardener's son, I had a good schooling from home and the love of ponies and horses was instilled with the mother's milk.

Working pleasantly with fellow board members and all volunteers is important. Members' interests must be paramount because that is what an association is all about.

I would therefore like to express my appreciation and thanks for the tireless efforts of all the volunteers with whom I have had the pleasure of working in recent years.

The NWPCS is well known worldwide for the quality of its breeding products and its major events such as the Central Stallion Show and the Central Inspection and we should be quite proud of that. This has been built on by the association and its directors and volunteers for over 63 years and the challenge for the future is to raise this to an even higher level.

The association is in good financial shape, growing in membership and foal registrations, and there are plenty of challenges for the future to continue to organize activities for our members.

Welsh pony breeding is our great hobby and I hope to enjoy it with Betty for a long time to come and meet you at the shows.

As you can see from this job posting you can read, the Council of Members has been working to fill the vacancy that arises.

Over the next few months, I will work to work with my colleagues to see the ongoing issues through and ensure a proper handover to the new president.

With kind regards,

Pete Peters
Chairman of the Main Board.
