March 18: DPC Stallions Night

Breeders of future sport ponies and pony sport enthusiasts should mark Saturday, March 18, 2023, on their calendars. That’s when the best stallions from various studbooks across all disciplines will be on display at Stallions Night at Manege Zilfia’s Hoeve in Houten.

This unique show is an initiative of the Dutch Pony Championship Foundation, whose goal is to showcase young, talented ponies.

New Stage

Following the successful first edition of the Dutch Pony Championship—a talent search for young dressage and show jumping ponies—the board is moving full steam ahead toward this new challenge.

Chairman Lars Pronk: “There are plenty of stallion shows in March and April, when the breeding season begins. Pony stallions are sometimes presented at these events as well, but they are invariably overlooked. On March 18, we’re offering a new platform where the very best pony stallions in our country will take center stage.”

Quality Galore

“We’re putting the pony stallions in the spotlight in particular, so that the many enthusiastic sport pony breeders can also get a good overview of the options available for their mares,” Pronk continues. “What’s more, the public will have the chance to meet their pony’s sire and see for themselves the quality of Dutch pony stallions. Because there’s plenty of it!”
Champions and International Sport Stallions Dutch champions and performance champions from various studbooks, as well as stallions competing at the international level, introduce themselves. Some stallions put on a spectacular show, jumping over picnic benches, while others perform a pas de deux with one of their offspring. You’ll also get your first look at a number of young stallions that will be appearing at the stallion inspections in the coming weeks. And who knows—maybe some DPC judges will be clapping for their own stallions…
