point out that by passing a talent test like the IBOP your mare will be promoted to
‘CROWN’ mare. - Mares not previously presented at a judging (foal book mares as young as 3
years old) may compete in the IBOP. They cannot promote yet but if they are
are later brought to the inspection and may eventually receive the ‘KEUR’ predicate
take these mares automatically become ‘CROON. - Geldings and stallions are also welcome at the IBOP. They cannot promote but the IBOP
is a test to better understand a pony's natural aptitude for the sport.
By participating in this test, a breeder or owner gains more information about
qualities of the entered pony.
PREPARING FOR THE IBOP
Many times, the pony is leashed for an occasion such as an IBOP and/or just prepared by then. Then it is certainly no mean feat to take a test in a strange environment. It is therefore advisable to start training in good time and get the pony used to riding in an indoor arena. In addition, if the pony is going to take the riding test, it is necessary to have jumped a practice course a few times, preferably in an indoor arena.
