DPC Coco with Ize Herwers

At the beautiful venue Dressuurstal Seren in Vorden last Saturday a nice number of combinations put their best foot forward. In the four-year-olds, the Welsh Partbred Studbook stallion Coco (by Coelenhage's Happy Hour) won with 83 points with Ize Herwers. This rider rode with stablemate and also Welsh Partbred Studbook stallion Hendi's Picasso to second place by scoring only one point less.

In this second qualifier of the Dutch Pony Championship the scores were close to each other. The judges praised the way everyone presented their pony and how well the ponies rode.

Febe van Zwambagt and Wesley Mulder formed the judging pair. “It was top organized and I think it was a treat for everyone to participate,” Febe begins.

Four-year-olds: mini-Apache Coco

Febe van Zwambagt: “In the four-year-olds, for a moment we thought we had a mini-Apache walking in the lane! What an elegant pony, the winner Coco ! A beautiful head, very long-legged, and with the same brown color as Emmelie Scholtens” stallion. And he can move too. Coco was very nicely presented by Ize Herwers, who rode this young pony in balance and very sympathetic, nicely off hand. Coco scored an 8 or higher on all parts, and for the trot we gave a 9."

Amazon Ize Herwers also rode the No. 2, Hendi's Picasso. He had only one point less than Coco, 82 in total, with only 8s and 8.5s. “Picasso already has a very nice self-carriage and a lot of suppleness, and he too was pleasantly presented,” Herwers said.”

With an 8 average, Jinthe Nipius finished in 3rd place with the gelding Just a Champ (by Jonkers'Jayden), “A pony with a beautifully quiet touch that showed a consistent performance.”

Five-year-olds: Tjiësto L.H. in the lead

With 83.5 points, this class was won by Nia Domo's Bolero son Tjiësto L.H. “This bay gelding was ridden by Levi Heusinkveld, who also presented the number three Spoorzicht's Jaguar,” Febe says. “At two finished the stallion Dempsy Sil under Esmae Niessen. These three ponies stood out just slightly above the rest with 80, 81.5 and 83.5 points. Dempsy Sil is an impressive pony with a lot of charisma. Tjiësto won it because he has just a bit more suppleness, and a very nice released walk, for which we therefore had a 9.”

Six-year-olds: win for swinging Poseidon's Genovia

In the six-year-olds, the mare Poseidon's Genovia (by Veenstra's Grapjas) was the outlier, with 83 points. “She was ridden very nicely by Faye Lynn Zwaneveld. A happy chestnut mare that you really enjoy watching. She went around the track swinging and can even collect a bit already. Furthermore, with this pony the nice quiet bridle is striking,” said Febe.

“No. 2” was the beautiful NWR Studbook stallion Spoorzicht's Jupiler (by Speycksbosch Dickens) - he was the only one to receive a 9 for his conformation - who was sent to 80 points by Yelin Kayalar. He was a bit distracted and that caused a bit of tension in the walk, for example, and that tension also depressed the grade for Carriage & Souplesse. With the number 3, it was noticeable that he is already well into his training. This Black Pearl (by Leuns Veld's Lord) scored 78 points with Lieve Berndsen. This pony and rider are also a promise for the future."
