On April 20, 21, and 22, the NWPCS had a booth at the “Paard en Koets” event in Kronenberg. An international driving competition was also held during the “Paard en Koets” event.
During the “Paard en Koets” event, the Welsh pony was showcased through the ponies in the breed parade and during the demonstrations. The booth did a great job representing our beloved Welsh pony, and we welcomed new members.
On Saturday, Melanie van de Bunt and Elise Borgstijn came to give a demonstration. Melanie rode Sunstars Calvados (by Oldenzijlster Action Man) and Elise rode Zwanehoef’s Kabibe (by Meladelle’s Avanti). Melanie and Elise had specially choreographed a Pas de Deux to music. High Flown’s Roemer (by High Flown’s Viper), owned by Emmalie van Welie, was in the demonstration stable and participated in the breed parade alongside his owner.
Sunday’s demonstration was led by Tinne Bax with her four-in-hand team of Welsh Mountain ponies. Tinne had Vechtzicht’s Consul (by Vechtzicht’s Harmony), Vechtzicht’s Commanchero (by Friars Divine Spirit), Vechtzicht’s Challenger (by Vechtzicht’s Harmony), and Cuppers Salinero (by Oldenzijlster Axel). Tinne showed the audience how she trains. She also demonstrated parts of a dressage test. At “Paard en Koets,” there was also a “Battle of the Breeds,” where two-horse teams from different studbooks competed against each other in a mini-marathon. Jan Martens, Tinne’s husband, participated with two other ponies. Vechtzicht’s Cannavaro (by Vechtzicht’s Harmony) and Alex (by Oldenzijlster Axel) were allowed to participate. Roel van Munster took part in the breed parade with Oldenzijlster Abigail and the foal Van Munsterstud Maximus.
We would like to thank all participants for their efforts!
More to come in Welsh Magazine.
